![]() (This will be redrafted shortly) - Lonely: Sypha calls this one out explicitly in canon, comparing Alucard to a cold spot in a room, impossible to break through. Alucard's dealt with the extremely upsetting death of his mother being burned at the stake and then having to kill his own father, but that loneliness was there before all those things happened. Canon declines to say if Alucard had friends or much contact with the world outside the castle, but it is likely that the answer is "he did not." - Aloof: The loneliness mentioned above feeds into a certain sense of aloofness that Alucard has. Other parts of the Castlevania franchise mention that Alucard holds the world at arm's length due to his heritage. In Netflix canon, this is true especially as the trio enter the Belmont Hold, and Alucard has to process the fact that much of the hold's contents are related to the destruction of individuals such as himself. + Strong moral compass and sense of responsibility: There is in Alucard a very strong understanding of right and wrong, although maybe it's low hanging fruit for anyone to say "hey, don't commit genocide out of grief?" What gives greater credence to his moral compass is how it couples to the fact he is a responsible dhampir. It would be so easy to leave the destruction of Dracula to anyone else, but it is Alucard who feels that he must be the one who brings down his father and all the madness that Dracula's grief has brought down upon Wallachia. +/- Witty bordering on jackassery: One of the major traits in all three of the main Castlevania trio is their quick wit and ability to bounce off of each other. In the case of both Alucard and Trevor there is a very bad tendency for the wit to slam into taking things a step too far and just saying something hurtful/being an asshole. + Intelligent: He says it himself, "my mother was a doctor and my father was a polymath." It crops up in little ways in determining courses of action and strategic moves, and in big ones. In particular, Alucard's quick repair of a viewing mirror by knowing the Chaldeic language is one of the prerequisites needed to finally lock down Dracula's moving castle. + Dutiful: Alucard's a good son, and that's important. He makes a comment about how all are slaves to family desires in Castlevania in a way that sounds as if he would rather do anything else, but he does what it is his mother would have wanted in the end. That includes destroying the ultimate threat to humanity in the form of his father, despite the fact that it means causing himself more grief. ![]() Pre-Game Start Vlad Dracula Tepes's own vampiric nature came from exploring all technologies and all magics, including the forbidden ones but especially blood magic. By the time Lisa showed up on his door, Vlad was pushing 40 or so, with a solid reputation as a particularly cruel vampir. No one had made to attack him due to a strangely built and very well defended castle in the mountains of Krimnos. That Lisa got through at all was a testament to her determination and desire to do good. That the two ended up married with a son spoke to the real love their family had. Dhampirs are usually given away in tender years, a thing of fear and a sign of a blood curse. The relationship between Lisa and Vlad meant that Alucard was put through no such thing. His parents raised him. He was educated in art, in magic, in science, in all those things his parents valued most. An erudite young man, and one who when he was of an appropriate age, was encouraged to see the world. So he did. He traveled, carrying the knowledge of his parent's work and the things they collected to make their work all the richer. He came home to help manage their libraries, their tools, and he added to them as well. A curator of sorts, a man whose knowledge of material culture saw him become a roving appraiser of the strange and ancient, sometimes called for in order to understand some strange find. There was happiness and love in the house, until there wasn't. The outbreak of the Last Great War saw Lisa's death, for in her dedication to the art of medicine, she would refuse no patient. Even enemies. It lead to a mob, it lead to death, it lead to her husband vowing to erase all life from their corner of the world. A decision protested by Alucard, a decision that lead to his father dealing his son a near fatal blow. Recovery took six months. Finding others to help deal with his father's madness and what he unleashed upon the hand took six months. And in the end, Vlad Tepes was dead at the hand of his own son, dead in Alucard's childhood bedroom, staked by a piece of timber from his son's childhood bed. Grief and mourning colored the few precious years that followed. His family's home was the only place Alucard traveled through, as he would not let any war touch the things that his parents had valued so dearly and worked so hard to have during their lives. Death greeted him in defense of that same thing. Since Start of Game Magic gained since start of game Sight of Tsakál - Starlight Through this ability, the following are possible: He may touch a physical object and cause that object to give off a soft blue glow for the next half hour. Touching it again will remove the glow, and once more will renew it for another half hour. The light it gives off is enough to light up the area around it for 10 feet in every direction, but only he seems to see it or be aided by it. He may touch a person or creature, leaving a blue glow around the part of the body he touched. The glow remains for the next half hour regardless of shapeshifting of any kind but is not easily visible through illusion charms. He may touch a person's forehead, allowing them to see any active Starlights of his. He may touch a liquid, causing a blue glow to be imparted into it for the next half hour. It will travel on any currents or move with the liquid. This ability is a mix of Wild and Arcane magic and may take him a little time to master. Shadow walking (dhampir bloodline), mastered May 2019 Tapping into his vampir bloodline he discovers he can harness the dark magic in his blood to allow him access to a form of shadow magic. He can move his own shadow along surfaces, detaching it from himself and 'walking' it up to 1000ft/300m away from himself. At the cost of Alucard's physical awareness around his actual body, he can now see and hear things around his shadow as if he was there. His shadow can travel under doors and through cracks, to any space a shadow could slip into. He is able to pull himself to his shadow's new location or recall his shadow back. During use of this ability, wherever Alucard is he will not have a shadow. ![]() Please note that if any player chooses to opt-out of interacting with another player or their characters, they must also inform the mod team to avoid random pairing for plots. |
