"All of it is confusing! I have to think about it—..."
[ He barks defensively, brows furrowing over his eyes. Give him some time to digest the news! It's beyond him! ]
"I just don't understand how it works." [ Where does one put things? How do they not get jealous of one another? ]
"I've heard rumors of men bedding one another before, but I didn't consider it a possibility." [ He fears God too much, and the Bible has been drilled into him since as long as he can remember. Despite that, he isn't reacting with hatred so much as confusion and worry. ]

[ Three people seems like it'd be a challenge... he thinks of even his relationship with Sara and how difficult it'd been to nurture and make time for her properly alongside his business with the knights, and how a third person into the equation seems like it'd result in disaster. He certainly lacks the complexity to handle it— he can hardly multitask. ]
"I see." [ Leon's still imagining it. The homosexuality doesn't actually confuse him in theory, but more-so the bravery to act upon it in an age where God and the Church deem it a sin. Even he and Mathias had held strangely intimate conversations before after battles where they thought they might lose one another, tip-toeing around the concept with sentiments like, 'If I were a woman, I think I'd want to be with you.' He'd thought it an indication of the ultimate friendship, in a society constraining his ability to think of it as anything more. Leon recognizes his own simple-mindedness. He very rarely questions what he's been taught. ]
[ Lately, though, he's been thinking. There's no one else to talk about it with spare Rinaldo, who has enough on his plate. Both of them are attempting to navigate their grief, to pull themselves back together. While Leon feels himself beginning to question God's ways (a secret he'll take with himself to the grave), what he truly believes in is the goodness of God's people. That's the humanity that he fights for. ]
"Life is very multi-faceted and finding a reason for its ways is impossible, I've come to find." [ He muses. ] "It isn't my place to judge any of you, should you have been concerned I might."
[ Perhaps there had been some anxiety there. It's reasonable, given their surroundings. He doubts that even now their kind of romance is understood by the people, if the Church won't grant them the right to marry. ]
"I've never met my bloodline, but I believe in their righteousness. And this woman called Sypha, I trust her judgement in deeming you both worthy of her love. One man is plenty of trouble enough."

You don't get to threaten to go back in the box. You're the one who gets threatened with the box.
[ He's tired. This is hard. He doesn't need this shit. He pushes himself back to his feet, checking the whip at his waist. He doesn't know that Sypha's going to be able to keep going once she wakes. This asshole's just trying to run away.
Fine. He'll do this alone. ]
Go back to sleep, then. Point me in the direction of the engines first, if you're feeling charitable. If I find this soldier on the way, maybe they'll be some use.

[ what. ]
She said we were looking for a- [ a person. He doesn’t finish that sentence, because it’s an asshole thing to say even for him. He ends the sentence weakly instead, gesturing at Alucard.. ] -soldier.
You want me to leave, leave and let him continue to kill people when I might at least be able to slow him down, because she turned out to be right that there was a prisoner here?

And if it doesn't, then this might be the only shot we get. It was a miracle that we managed to get to the castle without it noticing us and moving this time. We're not going to get lucky twice.
[ He has a time limit now. Once Sypha wakes, he knows, she'll be eager to see their trapped saviour. And she'll take his side, because for the entire time he's known her she's always been eager to take any side that is 'not trevor'. If he wants to stay here, he has to go now. ]
If the prophecy is right, you can leave me here to do my work and I'll be hale and hearty when you come back.

There's plenty to thank you for.
[It's almost sentimental, the way Trevor presses his cheek to the back of Adrian's hand; scratchy as always, but warm and oddly affectionate. Trevor would never describe himself as needy, but if there's one thing he always seems to seek out, it's touch; that's probably the worst-kept secret between them. He was practically starved for it before Adrian and Sypha came into his life, and he seems to be making up for the lost time in spades.]
You gave us a home. [Trevor lowers Adrian's hands to the table again, but keeps them laced with his own.] And you don't look half-bad in leggings.
[God forbid he remain vulnerable for more than two minutes.]

I thought I might take you home and be a complete gentleman for the rest of the evening, but if you have other plans for me, I won't object.
[There's a moment of well-disguised panic, because he hadn't actually anticipated after dinner. This entire affair -- despite going off without a hitch -- hadn't exactly been planned in advance. It was a whim in the morning that blossomed into overly-confident folly, and part of Trevor hadn't expected Adrian to agree to it. He'd been so concerned about the reservations and securing Adrian's approval, he never considered the after.
Ice cream? A nice walk? What?]
What would you like to do?

[This isn't as challenging as anticipated, the whole being a gentleman thing. Trevor doesn't totally feel like himself, but he's too used to 'himself' being a drunken mess. Borderline alcoholism (or perhaps not so borderline) has a way of disassociating everything from reality. He thinks he remembers who he is without it, but inching back to that is something of an arduous task.
Like hell is he going to admit that, though. Adrian knows him well enough to tell this from... Well, how Trevor normally is, and the fact that he commented on it--
Trevor's trying not to be irked. Because Adrian didn't mean it that way, he's sure; it just feels like he enjoys this Trevor better.
He doesn't get to comment on it one way or the other. Their food is delivered a moment later, and Trevor reluctantly releases Adrian's hands to make room for the plates. Small portions, artistic presentation; some things are a constant with places like this, he supposes.]
I think I prefer your cooking. [Trevor says when their server is out of earshot again, tentatively poking around the plate with his fork. Where is the rest of it? Honestly.]

"They feel like injuries, I suppose. Conversation helps me put my focus elsewhere, so it's been bearable."
[ Leon looks to his bandaging. ]
"It's a shame the other two aren't here for me to meet. Do you think that me talking them would make the world's storyline unravel, or something?"

Probably. Your dad doesn't seem to have any need for prisoners anymore.
[ You know what? He's going to call Alucard's bluff. He didn't go back into the box when he threatened to, after all. He probably won't knock him out. Probably. He stretches (god, he's tired), and faces back in the direction he was initially heading. ]
This is fucking stupid. I'm going to go bleed on a machine. Keep her safe and on the offchance that this works, have her seal everyone inside and then throw the castle into the ocean.
[ He sets off with a halfhearted wave. ]
Have a good life, asshole.
