There's other ways. Always kids that need homes. But it'd be nice to be able to have one fucking person in this house other than Sypha who doesn't have weird family baggage.
[ He softens a little at that- maybe that was why it stung. The idea that this would be something - something important - that was theirs and not his. ]
All the useful shit, none of the burdens?

[ The singular is noted, and it is a good thing. One child is- still a lot, but it's a realistic lot. And it's different from what he's used to. No spares, because there's no expectation of danger. ]
Sounds- nice. Lot of shit to get my head around but- nice.
[ It's not quite a return to snuggles, but there's a warmth in his voice, and the next flower goes in Alucard's hair again instead of just being set aside. ]
Even when I'm all scaly and eating flowers and in danger of getting fired for being too much of a moth?

Mm. Little bit. Mouth's all- [ He makes a gesture with one hand that's probably supposed to reference his tongue unfurling into the stupid nectar tube. ] -nasty.
[ He moves closer, though, offering a cheek. ]
[ He moves closer, though, offering a cheek. ]
A couple, yeah, until she's back or this wears off.
[ It's ridiculous, that he can get cold in this too-fucking-hot country. But it's drier here, with less water in the air to hold heat. And he's not great at generating heat when he's like this. And- ]
-You're not great for keeping warm.

[ They're making progress.
Astonishingly fast progress, in fact, ever since that whole 'getting tired up' discovery. There are still limits - it can't be both of them at once, which is why Sypha's excused herself to the library for a few hours. They have to check every now and then that Alucard is still doing okay. But things are getting better. They can sleep next to him almost every night, keeping him nestled between them or over at Sypha's other side - Trevor always has to be closest to the door. He can rest as a wolf with his big fluffy head in Sypha's lap while she pets him and looks out of the window.
So maybe, maybe they can do this now. Maybe he can touch Alucard, not just be touched, if only for a little while.
His wrists slide free of the rope when Alucard unties it and he waits only a moment before moving his hands forward, pressing them against Alucard's sides and sliding them town to his hips, voice slow and heavy with adoration. ]
-beautiful. So, so beautiful.
[ It's the usual borderline-incoherent mess of 'beautiful's and 'lovely's that he gets reduced to during these moments. But there's another voice there, too. Hiding just beneath his. ]
-beautiful. Perhaps that's why he kept her, why he had you. For an ornament.

The second part?
[ Trevor tilts his head to the side for a second before a smile creeps over his face and he leans in closer. ]
You want me to say it again, hmm? Well, If you want us to tell you how pretty you are more often, I think that can be arranged. [ Closer still, until he can whisper in Alucard's ear. His chest is pressed against Alucard's now, his heart hammering in his chest. ] You're-
-lovely. For a half-breed. Useless, but lovely. Just like her. It would be a terrible shame to leave a mark on you, my dear. [ Trevor's body is cold. The heartbeat is gone. A hand combs through Alucard's hair, but the fingers of it are long and thin and there are the usual amount of them. ] It would distress me terribly to hurt you, my lovely prince, to take away that pretty face and leave you with nothing. So eat your supper, and no more of this silliness.

[ Okay, that's weird and not sexy. Trevor removes his hand from Alucard's hair and backs away, looking him over. He extends a hand then thinks better of it. Shit. He doesn't know what to do about this. ]
I'm here. Adrian, I'm here.
I'm here, Adrian. I'm here.
[ The weight against Alucard's chest remains, even with Trevor gone. The cold, dead weight of those bodies in the slaughterhouse, pinning him down. The hand is still in his hair, twisting into a cold, tight fist. ]

[ Shit. They want too far, too quickly ]
Adrian, I'm not- shit. Sypha! Sypha!
[ This is out of his control and he knows it, but he's not sure if Sypha can even hear from here. He could make a run for the library - in truth, he's not sure if the castle would cooperate right now. Something's clearly wrong with Alucard, so it'll be acting weird and-
-as if on cue, the roar of the castle's engines working shakes the room. They're moving. He doesn't know where they're moving to, but they're going somewhere. ]
Adrian, I'm not dead. I'm here. Right here. Please-
[ There's another hand, now, at Alucard's throat. Cold as everything else here with those long, thin fingers and a grip like a vice. Carmilla's claws graze at the skin, not quite breaking it. ]
-wherever I please. My dear prince, you'll find I can be wherever I damn well please.
[ The hand at Alucard's throat tightens and loosens, almost playful in the same way that a child cutting up caterpillars is playful. ]

[ He shouldn't touch Alucard. He knows that much. But- shit, he's hurting himself. And he can't let him keep doing that, either. He reaches out, sliding his hand between Alucard's hand and his throat, trying to guide it away. Trying to guide him back from wherever the fuck he is right now. ]
I'm here, Adrian. I'm here I'm not going to leave you-
I'm not going to leave you, Adrian. For all your long, long life. The mortals will fade, given time. But I? I will still be here. The oldest friend you will ever have. The only one you'll have left.
They'll be gone eventually, my dear prince. And then you will have eternity with only me. I wonder, how many centuries of this do you think you can manage?
[ There's another hand now. And that should be impossible, because that would mean Carmilla has three hands and two of them are occupying the same space. But logic doesn't matter here. Another of those bony hands threads its fingers through Alucard's, trying to wrestle his hand away from his throat. ]

[ Alucard's hand grips his arm, and for a moment that seems correct. But- but shit, his arm doesn't bend that way, and Alucard is stronger than the joint of his elbow and-
You don't get to be here, he says, before his elbow gives an awful pop. And then there is a snarl- a real, vampiric one - and he's sent flying back against the ground, arm twisted in entirely the wrong direction, Alucard's weight coming down on his wrist until it gives with a sickening crunch.
He manages not to scream. But in truth, he probably didn't need to. The pained whimper and the choked attempt at taking in breath are loud enough to dismiss Carmilla, even if the pop and crunch weren't. She's gone, and Sypha's approaching footsteps are still a few hallways away. Alucard is alone with Trevor once again. ]

Right. So you're telling me that I need to kiss a corpse. You're telling me that you have kissed a corpse, and I'm meant to be joining in.
[ They have a problem.
A few problems, actually. The first is that there are vampires aboard the Demeter, hidden among the passangers and crew. The second is that they have no fucking clue why there are vampires aboard the Demeter. The third is that this speaker girl apparently just kissed his luggage.
His luggage is a wooden crate containing a glass coffin lined with lilies and occupied by a young man, which makes the kissing both less and more weird at once. ]
Look, he was in my family's basement. He might be- I don't know. Related to me. Great great grandpa Belmont. Are you sure you want enabling that kind of nasty shit on your conscience?
[ The man isn't a Belmont, he knows that much. He's a vampire, and Belmonts who succumb to vampirism don't go in pretty glass coffins. He doesn't know what his family was thinking keeping a vampire - a live one, if sleeping - and it's a little late to ask. He just hauls the man and his box around. Talks at him sometimes, for lack of anyone else to talk at. He's been his only companion for the last seven or so years.
But now, now he's apparently the way out of this situation. He'll be able to sniff out other vampires, reveal their identities so that the three of them can kill them before they can retaliate by killing innocents, even sinking the ship. He just needs to wake up. ]
Fine, fine. But if this gets weird, it's your fault.
[ And Alucard wakes to the smell of saltwater and the churning of waves and a pair of hesitant lips on his. ]

[ Oh. He has gold eyes. He’d always kind of wondered.
Wait. His eyes are open.
Trevor darts backward so quickly that it’s a wonder he doesn’t catch his lips on any fangs. His hand hovers over one of the knives strapped to his chest, but he doesn’t take it. Instead he points at the speaker. ]
This got weird, and it’s your fault!
I do not make things weird, I set them right.
[ Trevor just gestures at their corpse who is no longer a corpse. Weird. And then actually addresses him. ]
Shit, so all this time carrying your arse around and I could have just made you wake up and walk.
Wait. His eyes are open.

The year is 1876, it turned only a few days ago. It is winter, and this is a ship bound for England. When we make it-
-If. If we make it. One thing at a time, Speaker. [ He turns back to Alucard, trying very hard to be businesslike at this man he just kissed. This man who is the only thing he has left of home. ] There are vampires aboard the ship, but if they figure out that I know that and drop the secrecy, we have a whole lot of innocents with nowhere to run. She figured you’d be able to sniff them out.
[ We kissed you so you could smell vampires, is what he’s saying. ]
It’s going to be difficult to do this without casualties even if you can, but at least we’ll have a chance.
