[Aucard knows better than to assume that just because something has a human voice, it's human. Even as the creature talks, he runs. He only stops once there's a curse or two from the other men, something muttered about not worth it and then a retreat.

The footsteps are going away. Alucard feels the tension slide out of his body all at once, and he stops to brace a palm against the nearest tree to try and give himself the tiniest of breaks.

He's too caught up to consider where the creature might be heading next, the words it just said having gone in one ear and out of the other.]
