I've missed an entire sequence of events here to make sense of just about anything you've said.

He would be a liar if he said he wasn't also taking advantage of the movement to see if Hector has been followed by certain friends that Alucard likes much, much more than Hector himself, but asking after pets is not the correct thing to do right now.
