[Alucard and Sypha's focus has been pointedly away from Hector. The ship can manage the seas, based on their inspection of the vessel, but the issue of food is another matter all together. (Water is never a problem with Sypha.) It's not ideal, especially with Alucard having little practical nautical knowledge. Sypha's people do, and it has been passed down, but there is still a gulf between that knowledge and true experience.
