[ The old Belmont estate is cursed, the people of the closest town say. When they burned it, roses sprouted from the walls, coiled their stems and roots around the wood and stone to hold the whole structure together. When they beat their youngest son, thorns crawled under his skin and out through the wounds. Slowly encased his body until he was invisible beneath armour of wood and thorns.
And now? Now a monster roams those halls.
It's difficult to separate truth from myth, when it comes to the monster. By some accounts it's simply a bear that has mode its home in an abandoned shelter. By others, it's whatever demon the Belmonts were once worshipping.
One of the only facts that can be established, and probably the only one that must matter to Alucard right now, is that a year ago in the closest town, an old speaker was sentenced to be burned as a witch. Those same roses sprouted from the stake, forming a cage around him that remained until the fires burned out and he emerged safely. Archers tried to fire upon him, but the wood of their bows and arrows bloomed as they did. The man walked away from the church with only scrapes from the thorns, his attackers kept from him by the roses of the Belmont curse.
And that? Right now, Alucard needs that to happen at Targoviste. ]
