Gideon peers at him as though trying to discern whether or not she'd imagined the whole thing over the top of her mostly-devoured soup, only for Alucard to abruptly look away. There's the slight squeal of the chair legs against the floor as he stands and moves away from her, and she chews over his words for a moment, trying to work out how she wound up in a conversation that feels a touch out of her depth. He's upset, that much is obvious. Probably let slip something he hadn't really meant to say, but they can't just leave that bombshell hanging between them and go back to casual chatting. So she says--]

But if it makes you feel any better, I once had a crush on this cute older girl who kinda seemed like she liked me too, you know, paying me lots of attention and stuff.
