20s AU Post

Current Carmilla plot outline
--Post-fire, Carmilla and Mr. Peanut team up mostly to use each other. Carmilla's spent the past several months (since November, it is now February 1925) networking, and it's clear to her that Alucard's not suited for the position and that the other two are the obvious weakness. Mr Peanut needs something back, so this is perfect on her end. Mr Peanut can only imagine the joys of vampire blood in his work, and he'd like an army of vampires for his own ends.
--Shit stirring from Mr Peanut (all of March?)
--Mr Peanut also begins to sell mis Miracle Serum, which has vampire blood in it.
--Gang is very much trying to murder Mr Peanut during this.
--Start of April, vampire gets a call from one of the blood bank contacts that 3 patients have come in and are displaying some bizarre signs. Investigation yields the fact that they're in process of turning, and they've all taken the same serum.
--Additional investigation reveals O FUCK IT MR PEANUT
--Meanwhile Carmilla's been made aware of a familiar she didn't sire, so she knows something's up. Big fight with Mr. Peanut and thus Mr. Peanut is left depowered
--Gang commits a murder
--Carmilla's well sured up on her contacts now, and it's time for open rebellion (mid-April)
--In a more subtle attempt to let Alucard just step aside, she cuts the breaks on demon car and shows up to gloat/suggest he not pull a dad and go to deal with his grief quietly while she runs the city. The how he wants to do it is up to him (black widow joke goes here.) Treffy and Sypha walk in.
--1 week of straight up rebellion; feedings, no help from allies, need to do damage control instead of fight carmilla, every dracula rule is
--MEANWHILE IN GRAVITY FALLS, triangle shows Vlad what's up to try and psyche him out, somehow this finalyl snaps Vlad out of his depression and he heads home
--Just in time for Alucard and Carmilla to be tearing each other to bits in one of the bayous, it's not going well
--Vlad coming in means the king of vampires is accosted by a belmont with a pair of blessed knitting needles and a speaker with a fucking gun and he's just like what the shit happened to the world while i was gone
--Wards around the fight means that only demon car can break the wards, everyone has to pile in.
--Carmilla gets her ass kicked AND SENT TO THE JUSTICE DIMENSION

THEN THERE WERE FAERIES.
--Prior to all of this the vampire and Sypha have done a shit ton of research on how to get their Belmont back
--Sypha has also been practicing debating with dad, which leaves everyone Very Tired.
--When Trevor is actually snatched up (1 year after marriage, it takes fae effort. Taking Arn's shape fails, so it's a lot more kidnapping by force), Sypha and Alucard go into Faerie
--But they're playing this as politics, not as heroes rescuing their damsel, so that means the faeries are just "wait what now excuse u?"
--There are 3 gates and 3 trials (the particulars we're still bullshitting.) Each is asked to sacrifice 3 things. (Alucard: voice, his titles as bestowed upon by his father and his people, i forget the third; Sypha: her human form (she's a birb), fuck what were the other two)
--They enter the court at the end of the third trial. After LITERALLY ALL THE TITLES Sypha declares she Speaks for Trevor Belmont
--Claim debate over Trevor, turns out that the rules are in Sypha's favor.
--But that means debating to leave Fae without giving up what they've chosen.
--Sypha lawyers it all out, Alucard is a safety deposit and hangs out with Fae!Trevor
--In the end, safe passage out of Faerie consists of Sypha giving up her memory of the necromancer (billed as a great mage she studied under), the vampire gives up his immortality, and Trevor is replaced with Carmilla (dad was aware of this option and OK with it), but Trevor has his ability to swear taken. He now soundslike a rubber ducky when he tries
--Everyone gets home okay, except for the AU of this AU where the gang fails, but Trevor's on their doorstep like a bat out of Hell because time doesn't work right and he's been in Hell for a WHILE.

[ He sighs. ]

Let me come back to this when I have a sensible amount of blood in me? Not to ruin the great display of bravado I’m undoubtedly maintaining, but it’s like thinking through fucking knee-deep mud right now. I think brains might need blood to work right.

Of course.

[It's bad form, this, jumping into work rather than worrying about Trevor's well being. Some of it is confidence, the fact Alucard knows that the Belmont will make a full and perfect recovery. The rest is quiet fear and knowing he can't hop into the bed beside Trevor and smother him with affection.

He'd really, really like to do that one.

The next best thing is to lean over and kiss Trevor for just a moment. Not because he's worried (he's worried) but because what else can he do right now?]

[ Oh, normally he’d be more than happy to jump into work in a situation like this. He appreciates that it’s an option. But this isn’t something he’s ever been trained for, and he can’t think right now, and the last thing he wants to do is to give them bad information.

He settles into the pillows he’s propped up on at the kiss, smiling. This is an ongoing fucking theme in their lives these days, isn’t it? The two of them not being able to offer as much comfort as he wishes that they could because he did something stupid, like covering himself in annointing oil, or getting hurt badly enough to need all these fucking tubes in him. ]

So- tomorrow. [ And he smiles, and he’s a little too tired for it to be as awful a smile as he’d like it to be. ] When we’re home. Tell me what we do tomorrow.

[When they get home (and he and Sypha will have to go home at some point, if only to shower and to change and to make sure that they have what they need for the next few days), there will be a moment of guilt from the vampire because as far as he's concerned, this is on him. He miscalculated in an attempt to deal with the forgemaster, and he's rendered Trevor like this. His fault. Forcing Trevor to take more damage than he should.

Alucard pulls back from the kiss, and his own face is just worn thin. He'll nap for a few hours later.]

We follow any and all doctor's orders first. I'll cook a backlog of meals today that way we can microwave whatever whenever we're hungry. Then we sit and figure out where the forgemaster is operating out of so we can track his movements.

[ God, he looks tired. They both do, and Trevor is certain that if he could see himself he’d look just as shit. But none of them are TOO tired for just a little ribbing. ]

...not that I mind getting back to work. But I give you an invitation to say romantic shit, and that’s the best you can manage? I should have asked Sypha.

...Fuck.

[That's how tired he is. He missed the obvious opportunity, and Alucard just rests his forehead on the terrible hospital mattress so that Trevor can't actually give him more shit.

(Trevor's going to give him more shit, he deserves it.)]

So tell me more about sexy microwave meals and necromancer-hunting. I’m practically seduced.

[ This misunderstanding is his new favourite thing. ]

How long are you going to hold this over my head, exactly?

[He. Fucked. Up.]

[ He squeezes Alucard’s hand. ]

But I’ll be nice and give you another chance, if you promise not to apologise for this tiger shit any more. Tell me what we do tomorrow Adrian.

[Alucard looks up just enough to see The Face of Sypha's judgement, which is as terrible as he expects. Yes. He's an idiot. He's going to be reminded of it for the next month or until he does something even stupider than this, which would be an achievement. Kind of.

With all the shame of embarrassment and Sypha's judgement gone, he straightens up a bit more, pausing to squeeze that hand back. Soft, because he's pretty sure that if he wasn't thinking soft he'd just go right ahead and break Trevor's hand.]

I did mean it about doctor's orders. But that requires you being in bed for some time, so that's the opposite of hardship for all three of us. [What else indeed? He'll pause, and the look he gives Trevor is downright contemplative.] I'll have to do whatever you tell me you need, of course.

Of course.

[ Please don’t break his hand, he’s running out of those.

He’s closed his eyes again, lying back against all of the pillows that Sypha’s piled behind him. If he holds his shoulders just so, he can’t really feel the overstarched hospital sheets or the dull ache of his body or the pain in the bitten arm. It’s almost a little like being in their own bed, with the both of them around him.]

I think I can manage the bed thing. And you’ll both be there?

Where else are we going to go? [Alucard shifts just a little, so that he's at a far more comfortable angle to run his fingers through Trevor's hair. It is, unshockingly, a total mess. So he starts to try and fix it, nails picking through tangles and clumps of dried blood.]

Although I expect the "I'll do whatever you say" thing must extend to Sypha's demands as well. [There's already a noise of approval, so now Alucard's locked into this agreement.]

You didn’t specify, I wanted to be sure. I swear, I give you two chances and you still can’t even tell me whether or not you’ll be in the bed.

[ Sypha’s laughing. Apparently it’s ‘bully the vampire for being bad at flirting’ time. ]

Lucky I already love you, because you’re as shitty a flirt as you are a vampire.

I was building up to it!

[He was not, he straight up forgot to include the obvious.]

If you don't like how I do this then you can make me find some other way to express my affections for you.

Oh, I adore how you do this. It’s the funniest fucking thing.

[ He tilts his head to one side, openning his eyes just a little to look at this ridiculous vampire of theirs. ]

But I’ll humour you. How were you planning on expressing your affections for me?

If I'm going to be forced to endure much more of this, I'm leaving.

[It's a total non-threat, the vampire isn't going anywhere. He's only going to sulk at Trevor and pretend he is, head now picked up and nose pointed upwards, arms folded across his chest.]

So, are you going to keep at this?

[ He got his arm bitten he’s allowed to be a shit and pretend to misunderstand. ]

Well that’s also kind of a shitty way of going about it. I’m not feeling very romanced at all.

[Who is the worse boyfriend in this moment? It's hard to say.]

Maybe I was going to insist you get into the tub at some point and then stay with you for as long as you demanded of me. Maybe I was going to lie next to you in bed and spoil you without edging into that wonderful state where you're delightfully useless for a week. And maybe I was going to harass your grandmothers for additional recipes, but now I'm not so sure I'm going to be doing any of that.

I’m pretty fucking sure you are.

[ As if Alucard has ever turned down a chance to do any fucking one of those things. There’s never been an easier bluff to call. ]

You knew I was a shit going into this. You’re not going to let me being a shit change anything.

[He hasn't, but let him pretend that the threats hold water.]

Only because it's a very deep bite.

[And because this whole Carmilla being in the city thing has cut down on chances to do the kind of things the vampire loves best.]

I’ll try not to let that tempt me to get bitten more often.

[ He lies back again, closing his eyes and stroking Alucard’s hand with his thumb while Sypha’s hands settle carefully over the mess that’s been made of his arm. ]

‘m I allowed to sleep? May as well make the time pass quicker, so you can not do all those wonderful things sooner.

Don't joke about that.

[Bitten can mean a few too many things around vampires, and surprise: Alucard hates it! But with Trevor lying back, actually talking about sleep, maybe they all ought to follow his example for once.]

The nurses will probably yell at you if you don't. [He sighs, tired but relieved that even with this, they can fall into such normal and wonderful patterns.] Rest.
