[Despite everything, he laughs. ]
No shit it hurts- [ And he’s swiftly interrupted by Sypha’s elbow in his ribs. She looks over the injury again one-handed, not letting go of Alucard’s hand, while Trevor speaks with the white haired man. The man strikes two coins against each other and everything in the slaughterhouse twitches. ]
...yeah. He’ll be just fine here. Let’s get you somewhere less- fragrant. You smell worse than your damn cloak.

[ It doesn't matter that it's been unstinky for oer a year now. Doesn't matter that when they first found Trevor he smelled worse than the cloak ever has. He's still never going to let the stinky cloak comments drop.
Sypha takes the dagger as well as Trevor's crutch, and Trevor lifts Alucard. It's going to be slow going with him unable to use the crutch, but he should be able to make it to the castle. Hector will stay here to ensure that nobody gets turned, with everything in this slaughterhouse to protect him. Once they're out of the building, Sypha lays one hand on Alucard's shoulder before they go further. ]
You're safe with us. Always, from now on.

[ When he wakes, it's in the operating room where Trevor was kept not so long ago. The light of sunset streams through the window. Sypha's in a chair by that window, practically aglow in the sunlight as she sleeps. Trevor isn't immediately visible, but the sound of his crutch scraping against the floor and his low, not-entirely-in-tune humming make it clear he's somewhere nearby.
Alucard's hair is slightly damp, and the bandages around his leg and chest are new and clean. The air is full of the telltale smells of clean water and of that slightly perfumed soap that Sypha likes so much - it made more sense to bathe him while he was still unconscious and couldn't panic about the amount of constant contact that needed. There are blankets over him, but over them is the cloak. ]

[ The humming stops, followed by a scrambling of the crutch against stone and then Trevor is there, rushing over to lean over the bed. He smiles, and it's exhausted but it's so, so warm. ]
Of course you fucking wake up now. I just managed to convince her to sleep.
Of course you fucking wake up now. I just managed to convince her to sleep.
[ He chuckles, and it feels like putting down a weight that he's been carrying the whole time Alucard's been asleep. He lets himself sink into the chair by the bed and reaches to pinch the fabric of Alucard's nightshirt between finger and thumb. ]
You probably need to, but- [ He breathes in and holds it for a few seconds, then lets it out as a sigh. ]
-shit, I'm glad to see you awake and talking.

-shit, I'm glad to see you awake and talking.
It really does. Like trying to wade through a swamp, but with your brain.
[ He looks surprised by the request, but he reaches out to take both of Alucard's hands in his own, laging the fingers of his good hand with Alucard's and just stroking over his knuckles with the thumb of his bad one. ]
But there's nothing needs thinking about. You can be as stupid as you like for as long as you like, and it won't fuck anything up. You're safe.

Your- bed?
[ He tries to parse that for a moment, because Alucard's already in bed. After a moment's thought- ]
You want to go to your own room? Or to everyone's room?

You want to go to your own room? Or to everyone's room?
That should be fine, yeah. Let's find out what's nearest.
[ Because right now? The castle's acting weird. It's not let either of them leave the vampire's side for anything but the most important things since they got here. Every ddoor just leads back to the room where he is.
It's for that reason that he doesn't wake Sypha. She needs the sleep, and wherever they end up, the castle will make sure that she finds them. ]
'sit okay if I lift you up? I'll- uh. Need my hands for it.

[ He remembers basically nothing from back then, though Sypha's teased him about it plenty. Was he really like this? All- soft and grabby and too confused to hurt? He lifts Alucard as carefully as he can, bundling him up against his chest, and starts walking.
The castle will just end up sending him to whichever room Alucard actually meant, he's just about certain of that. It's slow going without his crutch, but he's not too worried about falling. Every time he so much as stumbles, the walls move so that he can lean against one rather than risking falling. It's absolutely for Alucard's sake rather than his own, the castle making sure that he isn't dropped to the ground and hurt more badly, but he's grateful regardless.
He pulls Alucard tighter against his chest with one arm as he opens the door with another, looking to see where the castle decided this corridor should lead. ]

[ He's not sure what to think of Alucard trying to press against him. That's new. He doesn't do that. But it's nice, while it lasts. He had a suspicion it might be this one. Carefully, he lowers Alucard into the bed and pulls the cloak around him like an extra blanket. ]
She'll be here when she wakes up. The castle'll make sure she finds us.
[ There's no chair here, so he sits on the side of the bed instead, placing a hand next to Alucard in case he still wants hands. ]

[Trevor, in his current state, can only manage a sharp hiss in response to the injection. Were he whole and well, he'd be cursing Adrian to the seventh layer of hell and back again, because for a long moment, he's quite sure he'd rather die. He's cauterized open wounds with a hot iron that burned less than this. It feels like Adrian's dunked the entirety of his forearm into magma and let it sit for a lark. Was that shit antivenom or acid?]
Please don't.
[That Trevor has the strength to grit his teeth through the words is promising. The sting is slow to fade, but it does, along with the worst of the pain from the bite. Trevor wonders if they'd added something to take the edge off, before quickly arriving at the decision that Sypha and Adrian would probably not elect to make his life easier if he'd gotten to the point he needed to use this kit in the first place. He can practically hear Sypha, If he's been that reckless, he can deal with a little pain.
Unbidden, Trevor reaches out to rest his hand over one of Adrian's. It's filthy -- caked with mud and gore and God knows what else besides -- absent his gloves, because it's always been easier to wield the Morning Star without them. But that small bit of comfort, of touch, is essential just now, even as he feels his heart evening out and strengthening from its feeble staccato. The antivenom is working, and he had no doubt it would, but that's--
That's somewhat less of a relief than he thought it would be.]
I'm serious about the dog, you know.

[Trevor chuckles, and heaves a slow sigh as his nausea begins to ebb. He doesn't know or care how it's working. He's suddenly feeling a good deal better, and he can't help thinking he's somehow narrowly evaded death's clutches yet again.
Someday, he won't be so lucky. Someday, Adrian or Sypha will find him a stinking corpse in the forests. Or they won't find him at all. Or they'll watch the life leave his eyes in the heat of battle. But that's the grim reality of their work together, that's the bitter pill they all can't seem to swallow. Trevor's the dumb brute. Trevor's luck can't last forever. Trevor's going to go first.
And he's all right with that. Mostly. Better to go first than have to deal with the emotional aftermath of any other possibility.
Trevor glances down at the wound. It's-- seeping is the best word for it, but that's not entirely accurate. Magic or science or whatever is purging this shit from his system has a truly disgusting way of doing so, and it makes his stomach revolt all over again.]
Do you have water? I lost my canteen somewhere. [And his mouth is like a desert, despite feeling like he needs to vomit again.]

It is.
[ First time a Belmont has called this castle good, more than likely. He leans in, and while he's always careful about touching Alucard, grabby hands are kind of a universal gesture. He slides on hand into Alucard's, the other lifting to stroke his hair. His voice is soft and low when he speaks again, half asking permission and half teasing. ]
Now where could I possibly lie down?
