[Those are the last words he says before unconsciousness claims him. Alucard expected his long life would be cut short eventually, either by Carmilla or vampire hunters or some other thing that finally let him have the release he wanted. That would at least make him safe.
But he's safe here too. Safe in arms that can carry his weight, safe in arms that fight off what he can't. Carmilla is gone. She's taken so many with her, but not him.
Alucard's head lolls against Trevor's chest, hair everywhere, sometimes brushing against skin, other times against fabric.]
[ When he wakes, it's in the operating room where Trevor was kept not so long ago. The light of sunset streams through the window. Sypha's in a chair by that window, practically aglow in the sunlight as she sleeps. Trevor isn't immediately visible, but the sound of his crutch scraping against the floor and his low, not-entirely-in-tune humming make it clear he's somewhere nearby.
Alucard's hair is slightly damp, and the bandages around his leg and chest are new and clean. The air is full of the telltale smells of clean water and of that slightly perfumed soap that Sypha likes so much - it made more sense to bathe him while he was still unconscious and couldn't panic about the amount of constant contact that needed. There are blankets over him, but over them is the cloak. ]
[Alucard groans when he comes to. Having the light on his face feels wonderful, but the rest of him feels so very, very weighed down. There's a dull, throbbing pain in his leg and something at his chest, but that's about all.
An attempt to move a hand fails, and when that does, Alucard understands they must be giving him some of the painkiller in the castle. The dose is...probably high. But it also says so much that his body accepts it in the first place.
He manages to move his fingers so they can brush over the fur trim of his cloak.]
[ The humming stops, followed by a scrambling of the crutch against stone and then Trevor is there, rushing over to lean over the bed. He smiles, and it's exhausted but it's so, so warm. ]
Of course you fucking wake up now. I just managed to convince her to sleep.
[ He chuckles, and it feels like putting down a weight that he's been carrying the whole time Alucard's been asleep. He lets himself sink into the chair by the bed and reaches to pinch the fabric of Alucard's nightshirt between finger and thumb. ]
You probably need to, but- [ He breathes in and holds it for a few seconds, then lets it out as a sigh. ]
It really does. Like trying to wade through a swamp, but with your brain.
[ He looks surprised by the request, but he reaches out to take both of Alucard's hands in his own, laging the fingers of his good hand with Alucard's and just stroking over his knuckles with the thumb of his bad one. ]
But there's nothing needs thinking about. You can be as stupid as you like for as long as you like, and it won't fuck anything up. You're safe.
That should be fine, yeah. Let's find out what's nearest.
[ Because right now? The castle's acting weird. It's not let either of them leave the vampire's side for anything but the most important things since they got here. Every ddoor just leads back to the room where he is.
It's for that reason that he doesn't wake Sypha. She needs the sleep, and wherever they end up, the castle will make sure that she finds them. ]
'sit okay if I lift you up? I'll- uh. Need my hands for it.
[The mmms are far too elongated. Trevor's experiencing the drug from the other end of it, and the effect of it all is to make him far fuzzier and far more desiring of people contact for the first time in uh. Well, ever, in fact.
Alucard tries to make grabby hands, and that fails.]
[ He remembers basically nothing from back then, though Sypha's teased him about it plenty. Was he really like this? All- soft and grabby and too confused to hurt? He lifts Alucard as carefully as he can, bundling him up against his chest, and starts walking.
The castle will just end up sending him to whichever room Alucard actually meant, he's just about certain of that. It's slow going without his crutch, but he's not too worried about falling. Every time he so much as stumbles, the walls move so that he can lean against one rather than risking falling. It's absolutely for Alucard's sake rather than his own, the castle making sure that he isn't dropped to the ground and hurt more badly, but he's grateful regardless.
He pulls Alucard tighter against his chest with one arm as he opens the door with another, looking to see where the castle decided this corridor should lead. ]
[The castle has decided that the answer is everyone's room. It has a fire lit in the fireplace already, and it is comfortably warm. The curtains are already drawn, and Alucard's eyes blink as they adjust to the low lighting.
Alucard will remember bits of this. Mostly the softness and the warmth. For now though, he tries to press up against Trevor more, and the cloak manages to go with him.]
[ He's not sure what to think of Alucard trying to press against him. That's new. He doesn't do that. But it's nice, while it lasts. He had a suspicion it might be this one. Carefully, he lowers Alucard into the bed and pulls the cloak around him like an extra blanket. ]
She'll be here when she wakes up. The castle'll make sure she finds us.
[ There's no chair here, so he sits on the side of the bed instead, placing a hand next to Alucard in case he still wants hands. ]
[Alucard's mollified within seconds of being placed in the bed. He's somewhere impossibly soft, and Trevor is here, and Alucard is safe. t's enough to make him try and inch closer to Trevor. Make sad, grabby hands at Trevor, wanting to be held but not quite articulate it yet.]
[ First time a Belmont has called this castle good, more than likely. He leans in, and while he's always careful about touching Alucard, grabby hands are kind of a universal gesture. He slides on hand into Alucard's, the other lifting to stroke his hair. His voice is soft and low when he speaks again, half asking permission and half teasing. ]
[While the castle doesn't respond, it'll remember that, Trevor Belmont.
He's close, but not close enough. Alucard's hand can manage a better squeeze around Trevor's, fingers interlacing without a moment's hesitation. Turns out that the vampire on morphine is a cuddle monster.
There's a soft whine. Alucard knows it's asking permission but still!!!]
[ Well how can he deny the vampire cuddles when he's acting like this? He kicks off his boots, climbing into the bed.
It feels a little wrong to pull the vampire against him, to pull the blankets around both of them and settle with his lips in Alucard's hair. A little like taking advantage of all of this, knowing how difficult this would be normally.
But it's nice. It's nice, and right now it seems like it would make him happy. So it can't be that bad. ]
[He'd never manage this in any other state. Part of Alucard seems to know that too, even as he tries to move in closer. Not that he can, pulled snug against Trevor and kept in place by warm hands and warmer blankets. It's good, this. He's safe like this. Everything hurts so badly, but he's safe.]
[ He strokes Alucard's back slowly, kissing the top of his head. It's- kind of fucked up, honestly. That this is everything he's wanted for so long, and that this is what has to happen to achieve it. But it feels right, to wrap himself around Alucard, put himself between him and the world. It's the only thing he's ever been able to do for anyone, and it feels like putting a puzzle piece into place.
This is where he belongs, between the two of them and anything that would harm them. And for now, even if it's only for now. Even if this can never happen again, for now he's here. ]
Good. [There's a soft rumble, the kind of noise Alucard sometimes makes as a wolf when one of the two manage to find the exact perfect spot to shower him in pets and adoration. He's clearly comfortable right now, and...
...and he has no filter, as becomes a little too clear in his next few words.]
Wish she hadn't made it so hard for me to enjoy something like this.
You killed her. If you want to, you can kill everything she left behind. We'll help you.
[ Shit, was he like this? This is really too intimate. Not the touching, even, so much as what's being shared so easily. He makes a mental note to ask later if he said anything he shouldn't while he was all fuzzy with medicine.
Later. Not yet. Right now, everything he does is about making sure this is as perfect as possible. That Alucard has everything he needs. ]
But not yet. Right now, we stay here. And I kiss you, if you want.

[It takes Alucard's face a moment to catch up with what's being said. He gets it. Sypha probably needed the sleep. So did Trevor.
He tries to tuck himself in more, if that's possible. Pull the fluff of the cloak up.]
I can sleep more.

[Well. He isn't stinky now, but Alucard knows that it could change. Sitting in bed and doing nothing has that effect on a person.
Alucard's hands try to curl around Trevor's. They make...a good attempt, but applying pressure doesn't quite seem to be happening.]
Mmmm. Can I have my bed?
no subject
[ He tries to parse that for a moment, because Alucard's already in bed. After a moment's thought- ]
You want to go to your own room? Or to everyone's room?

[Great specificity there, Adrian.]
