🜙 Character Information

⤛ Name: Alucard \ Adrian Tepes
⤛ Appearance: Tall, lanky, long blonde hair, the ur bishonen
⤛ Canon: Netflix Casltevania
⤛ Age: 75, looks to be in his mid 20s to early 30s
⤛ Race: Dhampir, human bloodline
⤛ Racial trait: Silver tongue
⤛ Race details: Dhampir description aligns with canon save for eyes; they will be golden when tapping into bloodline, otherwise be the same blue as his mother's.
⤛ Choice: Devotion
⤛ Abilities:
Canonical magic: Netflix canon makes it unclear Alucard's exact level of skill with magic (he is shown to be skilled enough to not only idenifty a magic object but repair it by re-etching the appropriate letters; he also has his own crypt that is a smaller, less advanced version of Dracula's moving castle). The video games simply state that he's about half as powerful as his father, with the canon wiki for the games citing skills like Hellfire and the fact he can seemingly change his identity.
AU magic: Because canon is unhelpful here, I've elected to go with that Alucard has a very solid reading knowledge of certain forms of magic: alchemy, the arcane, and forbidden magic (learned from dad, naturally.) His practical applications, beyond basic spellwork to accomplish simple tasks (heating water, drying something out etc.) is medium level alchemy work. This is due to the real emphasis he has in magic (see below.)

Canonical flight: Castlevania vampires and dhampirs can fly/levitate, mostly because a) why not b) yelling "bat fight" is fun and c) Trevor Belmont has to make floating vampire Jesus jokes at some point in time.
AU flight: See next entry.

Canonical superhuman strength and speed: Exactly what it says on the tin. Dhampir and vampires can move fast and knock shit around with alarmingly destructive results.
AU superhuman strength and speed: This will be covered by the game's concept of feral magic, tapping into the baser instincts of dhampir bloodlines. Ideally this might cover flight as well, but I am perfectly willing to just toss that power out the window in order to maintain the speed and strength aspects.

⤛ Skills:
  • Extraordinarily skilled at hand-to-hand combat
  • Likewise skilled in swordsmanship with his weapon of choice being a longsword.

    ⤛ Personality:
  • - Lonely: Sypha calls this one out explicitly in canon, comparing Alucard to a cold spot in a room, impossible to break through. Alucard's dealt with the extremely upsetting death of his mother being burned at the stake and then having to kill his own father, but that loneliness was there before all those things happened. Canon declines to say if Alucard had friends or much contact with the world outside the castle, but it is likely that the answer is "he did not."
  • - Aloof: The loneliness mentioned above feeds into a certain sense of aloofness that Alucard has. Other parts of the Castlevania franchise mention that Alucard holds the world at arm's length due to his heritage. In Netflix canon, this is true especially as the trio enter the Belmont Hold, and Alucard has to process the fact that much of the hold's contents are related to the destruction of individuals such as himself.
  • + Strong moral compass and sense of responsibility: There is in Alucard a very strong understanding of right and wrong, although maybe it's low hanging fruit for anyone to say "hey, don't commit genocide out of grief?" What gives greater credence to his moral compass is how it couples to the fact he is a responsible dhampir. It would be so easy to leave the destruction of Dracula to anyone else, but it is Alucard who feels that he must be the one who brings down his father and all the madness that Dracula's grief has brought down upon Wallachia.
  • +/- Witty bordering on jackassery: One of the major traits in all three of the main Castlevania trio is their quick wit and ability to bounce off of each other. In the case of both Alucard and Trevor there is a very bad tendency for the wit to slam into taking things a step too far and just saying something hurtful/being an asshole.
  • + Intelligent: He says it himself, "my mother was a doctor and my father was a polymath." It crops up in little ways in determining courses of action and strategic moves, and in big ones. In particular, Alucard's quick repair of a viewing mirror by knowing the Chaldeic language is one of the prerequisites needed to finally lock down Dracula's moving castle.
  • + Dutiful: Alucard's a good son, and that's important. He makes a comment about how all are slaves to family desires in Castlevania in a way that sounds as if he would rather do anything else, but he does what it is his mother would have wanted in the end. That includes destroying the ultimate threat to humanity in the form of his father, despite the fact that it means causing himself more grief.

⤛ Canon History: Netflix canon will be used, with backup franchise support as needed.
    ⤛ Key History Events:
    Lisa and Vlad Meet
Canon version: The most important part of Alucard's life is what happens before he's born. His mother, Lisa, shows up on the doorstep of Dracula himself, bangs on the door with the pommel of her knife, and proceeds to talk Dracula into teaching her how to be a doctor. This is with full knowledge of what Dracula is and she clearly cares not one iota. Time moves on, they're clearly in love, and well, naturally Alcucard is the result.

AU Version: Vlad Dracula Tepes's own vampiric nature comes from exploring all technologies and all magics, including the forbidden ones but especially blood magic. By the time Lisa shows up on his door, Vlad is pushing 40 or so, with a solid reputation as a particularly cruel vampir. No one has made to attack him due to a strangely built and very well defended castle in the mountains of Krimnos. That Lisa got through at all is a testament to her determination and desire to do good.

    Childhood
Canon version: While canon doesn't spend time on it, the few flashes we have of Alucard's childhood suggests that it was rather happy, although it wasn't like there were other people around. Moreover, he was extremely well educated, as expected when your mother is a doctor and your father is a polymath.

AU version: Needless to say, Alucard's bloodline can be traced back to dad. Unlike other dhampir though, he was very much wanted and raised by his parents and was in fact raised by them rather than be given away. His education remains the same.

    The In-Between Years
Canonical version: Unspecified, canon does NOT go into detail
AU Version: Alucard comes from very skilled and ambitious parents, and for both himself and his father, Lisa demands that both the men in her life travel the world and interact with it, rather than just stay in a remote family estate. Both do so.

In addition to this extensive travel, Alucard becomes very familiar with the work of both his parents and the respective items that they collect in order to either do their work or simply because it has some kind of value. He ends up helping manage them (this is a nod to the current season ending of Casltevania which sees Alucard end up taking care of both his parent's things and all the weird objects and books the Belmonts have collected through the generations), and becomes rather skilled at evaluating such items. As a result, he's...a roving appraise of strange and ancient objects, which leads to some further travel adventures.

Lisa's Death and Dracula Destroys Wallachia
Canonical version: After about 20 years together and working as a doctor within the neighboring region, Lisa Tepes is accused of witchcraft by the village's former healer. Dracula himself is not present when this happens, as he was following Lisa's request that he see the world and travel as men do. Alucard's location is not specified at this time. Regardless, Lisa tries to explain what a massive mistake this is as she is arrested and even as she is burned alive for so-called witchcraft, but this does not help.

To say that her husband takes his badly is an absolute understatement. Dracula returns home to ruins, and is informed of what happens by the last patient that Lisa treated. In his absolute fury, a giant fiery visage of Dracula cuts through the flames of his wife's pyre and demands an explanation, then delivers a dire warning: all of humanity must leave Wallachia in a year or else be destroyed.

With the message delivered, Alucard tries to talk his father out of this course of action for the horrible genocidal idea it is. What results is an injury so grave that Alucard is forced to retreat to a private keep and remain in unconscious recovery for a year.

A year passes. Creatures summoned from hell overrun Wallachia, beginning to make good on Dracula's promise of genocide.

AU Version: There are more many more years spent together as a family, but Lisa's fate is still that of death. With the outbreak of what will be the Last Great War, Lisa's skills are in demand. She treats those in the neighboring area of the family's home in remote Krimnos, but not going further if only due to Vlad's request that she not take stupid risks.

Healing everyone regardless of race though is what sets Lisa's death in motion. In being willing to treat dragonborn, there is a mob and then there is death and then there is Dracula's pure fury promises to erase all life from his little chosen corner of the world. As before, it is a decision Alucard protests, and the injury dealt to him send him into a retreat and recovery process that demanded some six months of healing in order to even think about stopping his father. Unlike canon though, there is no year long delay between Lisa's death and the destruction of the immediate area. Vlad uses his blood magic immediately to bring the world around him to ruin.

Got my crew, now for some patricide
Canon version: Alucard is reawakened after a year by Sypha and Trevor, and after he and Trevor nearly kill each other in a fight, the trio set off to destroy Dracula once and for all. They road trip it to Trevor's old home, and from there are able to find a way to lock down the ever-on-the-go castle that belongs to Dracula, fight their way in, and proceed to have a violent final show down. For Alucard in particular, this means a no hold fight, with his father and himself dealing some truly horrid injuries. This includes Alucard's head being smashed onto the floor multiple times by his dad. In the confrontation, Alucard rightly calls Dracula's vengeance nothing more than the world's longest suicide note, all brought upon by grief over Lisa's death. Trevor and Sypha continue to help, but at a certain point, it really comes down to Alucard vs Dracula

In the end, Alucard does kill his father. In throwing each other all through the castle, Dracula manages to toss the two of them into Alucard's childhood bedroom. It is only then that he realizes what he's doing: killing the last part of Lisa that is left on earth. At that point, all is done. Using a piece of splintered wood from his own bed, Alucard stakes his father, thus ending the nightmare forced upon all of Wallachia.

AU Version: In order to allow freedom for other castmates should they arrive, this section is a bit vague. Six months of recovery, planning, and finding others to help deal with Vlad's insanity and the desolation sweeping their corner of Krimnos (so everyone can just focus on the Last Great War instead) allows Alucard to face his father yet again. Like canon, the fight is hideous, and like canon, Alucard commits patricide in his own childhood bedroom.

    Onwards
Canon version: Canon is vague, and ends simply with Alucard alone in his family's home, finally processing all that has happened in the past year plus.

AU Version: Dealing with his own grief does not prevent Alucard from protecting his family's home. Unsurprisingly it is attacked due to his father's actions, and in an attempt to have him enter the Last Great War. Not wanting to be part of it, as he has gone through too much already, Alucard dies defending his family's home.
