Right.

[Expelling magical energy. Alucard nods and begins. Sending his own efforts outward, directing them down to that center and the mound. Like casting out a lifeline for a man drowning. They need only hang on and be pulled in.]

[Sypha does the same, letting a meditative trance come over her, pushing the magic down, down deep into the ground.

There's a stirring, somewhere. A sense of something tugging on the pair of them...]

--There, they've caught on.

[Alucard isn't excited, exactly. More like satisfied with the response. He throws more energy out, keeps inviting the spirit ever upward.]

[strongspirited]

[Sypha does the same, instinctively reaching one hand out to Alucard.]

Together.

[cryptsleeper]

[Alucard reaches across the discs. Grabs Sypha's hand, but then? Then the rest is focused on the mound and there's a tug]

We've got something--!

[strongspirited]

Ah! yes!

[There's no physical thing...but there's a kind of emotional and spiritual weight that comes rippling out of the ground. A burst of energy, and the feeling of something being released, as though from a cage.

It lasts only a moment or two more, before it finally begins to fade, like sand caught on the shoreline.]

...That seems to have done something.

[cryptsleeper]

[Alucard nearly falls over from the sudden weight that washes over him. It's more from being surprised about the outpouring than a general problem or being off balance, but it still hits.

He isn't so sure about that fade. He frowns, looking askance at Sypha.]

Let's bring our discs closer and see what happens?

[strongspirited]

Right...

[She looks from him, to the mound, then back again.]

On three?

Yes.

[It's Alucard that does the countdown, but he moves just a little slower towards the mound. It's more to do with his ability to control the disk than any particular fear of another wave of hunger, but--]

Are you getting any readings?

[strongspirited]

[She reaches out...]

...Not from the mound. I think maybe it's gone. We should maybe check the grass.

[cryptsleeper]

Let me land and then walk in the grass. Swoop in and grab me if I suddenly fall over.

[strongspirited]

Of course. I will be right here.

[With scooping action!]

[cryptsleeper]

[Alucard slowly brings himself down. Hops off the disc entirely, leaving Sypha to dismiss it if she'd like. He doesn't stand on the mound itself, but to the side of it.

Starts to move slowly. Considers--]

So far so good.

[strongspirited]

[Sypha watches, quiet but intent, focusing on the magical currents all around them.

Nothing seems out of place. So she dangles one foot off the platform and touches the dirt...]

It seems as though we've done it.

[cryptsleeper]

[Automatically, Alucard offers Sypha his hand to hop down. She's more than capable, of course she is she's Sypha, but it still feels correct.]

That it does. And there's still some leftovers in the basket.

[That begs a much more exciting question. One that puts a smile on Alucard's face.]

Picnic?

[strongspirited]

[She takes it, hops down, and lets the discs vanish as she's satisfied with their work.]

We do have all that food...

[And with a quick grin:]

...It would be a shame to let it go to waste. So yes, absolutely.

[For that, Alucard's quick to press a kiss to Sypha's cheek. He's still careful as he goes through the grass though, lest the spell not be cleared. But...there's nothing. Wonderful, blissful nothing. For that, he smiles and heads over to the basket.

This is good. Hell, he could get used to this level of courtship and the softness of it.]

A shame, I should have brought wine;

[strongspirited]

Well, we can always have some of that once we get home.

[She can make do with water. Sadly, she cannot conjure wine from the air.

Yet.]

Of course. I couldn't very well let you go out alone, could I?

[With that, Alucard opens up the basket, unpacking the remaining food. It's not much of a picnic -- remaining chicken, some fruit in the form of grapes, a little bit of olive oil cake -- but it's more than enough for now.]

Do you want anything else, or shall we just go for the cake?
